The May 4^th Youth Day originated from the May 4^th  Movement against imperialism and patriotism in 1919. The May 4^th Patriotic Movement was a thorough patriotic movement against imperialism and feudalism and the beginning of China's new democratic revolution. In 1939, Shangxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region Northwest Youth National Rescue Federation set May 4^th as China Youth Day.

During the Youth Festival, there will be a variety of commemorative activities in all parts of China, young people will also focus on various social voluntary and social practice activities, and many places will hold adult ceremonies during the Youth Festival.

The spirit of the May 4^th Movement represents the unity of honesty, progress, initiative, freedom, equality, creation, beauty, goodness, peace, love and mutual assistance, labor and pleasure, and the happiness of the whole society.
